Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, 2026, vol. 209, issue P1

Abstract: Spatially inhomogeneous Rabi coupled two component Gross–Pitaevskii equation with mixed signs of nonlinearity coefficients is studied. For this purpose we employ a hyperbolic rotational transformation, unlike the 2-GP system with Rabi coupling with focusing/defocusing nonlinearity, where standard rotational transformation is used. Then we apply a similarity transformation and study the intensity dynamics of coupled bright and bright–dark solitons, obtained through the Hirota’s direct method. A variety of novel coherent configurations, such as tilted dromion with feeble wings, beating tilted patterns, a breaking soliton, shifted soliton trains (representing soliton fragmentation), triple-sister dromions, coherent dromion-like structure are found. Further, non-pair wise elastic interaction of combined oscillating bright–dark soliton with a dark soliton, striped soliton train and train of dromions with ripples are also observed. In addition, a soliton tunneling phenomenon is also observed in the dark component.
