Bifurcation and chaos in atomic force microscope

Qing-Quan Hu and Li-Qun Chen

Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, 2007, vol. 33, issue 2, 711-715

Abstract: This paper deals with bifurcation and chaos of atomic force microscope. By use of the Poincare maps, the dynamical behaviors are identified based on the numerical solutions of the governing equations. The bifurcation diagrams are presented in the case that the excitation amplitude increases while other parameters are fixed. Numerical simulations indicate that periodic and chaotic motions occur in the system.
