Abstract:
The latest progresses on nonlinear dynamics for transverse motion of axially moving strings are summarized. A uniform governing equation incorporated arbitrary forms of the constitutive law of the string material is presented. The research results obtained by Chinese researchers are highlighted in the respects of nonlinear parametric vibrations, global bifurcations, chaotic behaviors, numerical algorithms and energetics with conserved quantities. Some advances achieved by other groups are also mentioned. Finally promising topics for future researches in the field are proposed.
