Assimilation of immigrants: Does earlier school exposure matter?

Taryn Galloway and Hege Marie Gjefsen

Economics of Education Review, 2020, vol. 76, issue C

Abstract: This paper studies the effect of migration age on school performance. We exploit that siblings have different migration age, but share the same family background to identify the effect of migration age on educational attainment in lower secondary education in Norway. We estimate a separate effect for migrants from countries with low access to a high quality school system.
