The relationship between coal and nuclear power for electricity production: A strategy for electricity production in France

Abstract:
In France, electricity is produced mainly from domestic and imported coal and from nuclear power. Investments are cheapest in coal-fired plants, but coal is more expensive. Therefore, every producer must balance production between coal-fired and nuclear plants; the more expensive the coal is, the more attractive nuclear power becomes.
