Abstract:
Strategies to reduce losses in the transmission and distribution of electricity are reviewed. A major effort is under way to improve load management by widely deploying devices which compensate for reactive load. To optimize the use of these devices, a system of rebates and surcharges is being used, and system integration is being expanded. Computerized data bases to plan the future of the electricity system of the U.S.S.R. are undergoing rapid development.
