Abstract:
The Leningrad economic region of the U.S.S.R. affects national energy use both because it is the largest producer of power generating machinery and because it is a major consumer of energy. Energy savings are being obtained from advanced characteristics of the machinery manufactured in Leningrad, as illustrated by data for steam turbines, steam generators, and combined-cycle systems. Energy savings are also being achieved at industrial facilities by integrating scientific, technical, organizational, and economic approaches, as illustrated by our programs for the aluminum and the pulp and paper industries, and for grinding technology.
