Abstract:
The performance of a natural iron ore originated from Menteş mine (Kayseri-Turkey) as an oxygen carrier in the CLC process was assessed in this study. A laboratory scale, alternating atmosphere fluidized bed set-up was used in order to simulate the CLC conditions. The oxygen carrier material was stable until the end of tests, and it exhibited more than 90% gas yield during the tests when fueled with pure CO (flow rates between 130 and 200 Wth) at 800 °C (1073 K). On the other hand, the syngas yield was approximately 83% at almost the same test conditions (flow rates between 120 and 180 Wth). It was determined that test temperature had almost no effect on fuel gas yield.
