Abstract:
We present the results of a study concerned with the potentials of using hydrazine as an alternate source of energy. Basically, three chemical reactions were considered: oxidation with air, oxidation with hydrogen peroxide, and thermo-catalytic decomposition. A comparison is presented with performance parameters for gasoline, ethyl alcohol and propane. Emission of NOx is considered for the fuels. The study involved use of the NASA SP-273 code. Promising results are obtained, especially for the available energy per unit volume of vaporized reactants.
