Abstract:
We calculate the CO2 production rates for fossil fuels and three forms of geothermal energy. We show that most geothermal resources produce significantly less CO2 than the fossil fuels for equivalent electricity production. We conclude geothermal energy may contribute to a reduction of global warming.
