Outlook for MHTGR project development

Abstract: The present status of the MHTGR and the NPR projects are summarized and the prospects of a civilian lead project to develop a prototypical plant is assessed. The MHTGR program has initiated the preliminary design effort with support from the DOE. The lead project is to demonstrate the licensing process and determine whether a viable project plan can be developed.
