Construction and operational experience with small and medium power reactors and expected improvements

Abstract: Past experience with small and medium power reactors (SMPRs) in the areas of construction and operation is examined in this paper. Current development of SMPRs focuses on passive safety features; larger design and safety margins; reduction of construction periods through simplification, modularization, and increased shop fabrication.
