Life-styles and energy consumption

Abstract:
This article deals with a study on energy consumption and conservation in Sweden. The purpose has been to deepen our understanding of energy behaviour in different groups of people by relating their behaviour to a general concept of life-styles. We have also evaluated an Energy Club, which is an association of people with a special interest in energy conservation. The members have been supplied with relevant information from a local electricity supply company. The results show that membership in the Energy Club has led to a reduction in electricity consumption and also that energy conservation varies greatly with life-styles.
