A method for thermodynamic optimization—I. Theory and application to an ammonia-synthesis plant

M.V. Sorin and V.M. Brodyansky

Energy, 1992, vol. 17, issue 11, 1019-1031

Abstract: An analytical formula has been obtained for the efficiency of a system in terms of the efficiencies of its component parts. This formula is independent of the structure of the system. Its use is described for thermodynamic optimization and process integration of an ammonia-synthesis cycle and power plant.
