Abstract:
A quasi-homogeneous model to describe the bed-to-wall radiative heat transfer in a gas-solid fluidized bed is proposed. A fluidized bed medium is considered to be continuous for radiation heat transfer and also isothermal. To examine the adequacy of the model, the equation of transfer is solved numerically under conditions corresponding to the experiments of Ilchenko et al, and the resultant wall radiative heat fluxes are then compared with the experimental data. Furthermore, a simple analytical expression for the wall radiative heat flux is derived using the P1 method. It has been found that the derived analytical formula approximates 95% of the experimental data with an accuracy of better than ±30%.
