Exergetic, energetic and life cycle assessments of the modified claus process

Samane Zarei

Energy, 2020, vol. 191, issue C

Abstract: In current study, the modified Claus process was simulated by ProMax simulator. The reliability of the simulated was tested by experimental data provided after different equipment’s. Afterward, the exergetic, energetic and sulfur efficiencies and life cycle assessment of total process at different processing stages were analyzed and compared. Results showed that catalytic stage has great impacts on sulfur conversion and emission reduction. The case studies were performed to investigate proper performance of the process. The inlet airs to process, acid gas conditions, bypass fraction around furnace (straight through to bypass furnace) and splitter fraction were the considered operating conditions. Afterward, optimum operating conditions of Claus reaction furnace were investigated.
