Efficiency of upward-type baffled solar air heaters

Ho-Ming Yeh

Energy, 1994, vol. 19, issue 4, 443-448

Abstract: Considerable improvement in the performance of solar air heaters is obtained if fins with baffles are attached over the absorbing plate in such a manner that air flows over instead of under the absorbing plate and creates free convection. However, the use of this procedure will increase the top heat loss. Therefore, an additional cover may be needed for this design.
