Energy efficiencies and environmental impacts of complex industrial technologies

V.s Stepanov and S.v Stepanov

Energy, 1998, vol. 23, issue 12, 1083-1088

Abstract: We evaluate thermal and chemical pollution in terms of wasted exergies entering the environment. Calculations for nepheline processing are carried out as an example. Advantages of using complex raw-material processing and multi-product outputs are illustrated on the basis of energy-efficiency improvements and reduction of environmental impact.
