Hybrid fuel-assisted solar-powered stirling engine for combined cooling, heating, and power systems: A review

Abstract: The application of combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) systems to generate both electricity and heat is growing quickly due to their high potential of lessening primary energy utilization, cost, and negative environmental impacts. This paper introduces a comprehensive review of hybrid fuel-assisted-solar powered Stirling engine-based combined cooling, heating, and power (HFSDSS-CCHP) systems. This article summarizes the typical configurations of SDSS CCHP systems, their energetic, economic, and environmental performances, as well as their operation strategies. The advantages and disadvantages of each system have been discussed. Thermodynamic models for the system components of solar - powered Stirling engines for the CCHP system are briefly presented. Besides, the most widely accepted performance indicators for guiding the Stirling engine-based CCHP system improvements are highlighted. Moreover, this review discusses the recent developments and performance analyses of CCHP systems. It is anticipated that the data gathered in this review will shed light on the promising technology of the Stirling engine for micro-trigeneration to pave the way for their marketability and extend their worldwide applications.
