Analysis of thirty years of wave power potential in the mediterranean coast of Egypt with Excel-VBA development for rose diagram plot

Alaa A. Masoud

Energy, 2025, vol. 315, issue C

Abstract: This research introduces the results from the analysis of thirty years (1993–2022) of wave energy off the Mediterranean coast of Egypt using hindcasted wave data with a 0.042° fine spatial resolution and 1-h temporal resolution. An Excel™ Visual Basic for Application (VBA(program is coded to facilitate rose diagram plotting and site ranking. K-means clustering is appraised to differentiate spatiotemporal variable classes for wave climate dynamics, energy potential, as well as temporal variability, shore morphology, and depths over 156 proposed Wave Energy Convertors (WECs) sites.
