Abstract: The characteristics of co-combustion of sludge and pine sawdust, as well as the migration and transformation of heavy metals, were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and sequential extraction inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) techniques. The migration and transformation of heavy metals during the co-combustion of wheat straw and pine sawdust with sludge were also compared. Results showed that pine sawdust effectively improved the combustion characteristics of sludge, enhanced combustion efficiency, and lowered the ignition temperature. Additionally, the presence of pine sawdust promoted the fixation of heavy metals in the ash, reducing their volatilization in the flue gas and consequently minimizing the risk of environmental pollution. The study further compared the effects of pine sawdust and wheat straw on sludge co-combustion, revealing that pine sawdust exhibited a superior fixation effect on heavy metals compared to wheat straw. The findings provide a theoretical basis for the application of biomass in the resource utilization and clean combustion of sludge.
