Abstract:
A great deal of byproducts, such as basic oxygen furnace (BOF) dust, are produced each year in China's iron and steel industry. Since BOF powder contains Fe2O3 and CaO, the combustion of pulverized coal can be accelerated. In this paper, the effect of compound flux consisting of Fe2O3 and CaO on the combustion behavior of pulverized coal was investigated by means of thermogravimetric analysis and burning rate measuring equipment. The experimental results indicate that the compound flux can promote the combustion of pulverized coal to some extent, and the compound flux 9Fe1Ca has the best promotion effect, and the compound flux 7Fe3Ca is the worst one. When adding 5 % compound flux, the burning rate of pulverized coal is 64.25 % and 61.81 %. The mean grain size of unburnt coal powder is smaller, and its structure is more ordered.
