Abstract: The imperative for carbon reduction and pollution mitigation has imposed stringent high-quality development requirements on the steel industry. This study proposes a collaborative optimization framework for carbon reduction and pollution control, specifically targeting the sintering flue gas circulation process, which is a significant emitter of multiple pollutants. The framework explores the feasibility of utilizing sintering flue gas as ring-cooler cooling air intake and introduces a comprehensive gas composition control strategy. The findings reveal that, for the case sintering system, overall atmospheric pollutant emissions can be reduced by approximately 32.7 %, carbon dioxide emissions can be lowered by 50 %, and process energy efficiency can be improved by 14.7 %. The flue gas circulation treatment technology demonstrates a highly synergistic relationship between carbon reduction and pollution mitigation. Furthermore, flue gas circulation has been identified as a pivotal reserved technology for coordinating pollution reduction and carbon emission mitigation. This study provides valuable assessment and optimization control guidance for collaborative emission reduction of pollutants and carbon in the steel industry.
