Abstract:
A cogeneration scheme comprising a combined cycle power plant (CCPP) with an absorption chiller used for space cooling is studied. A parametric study investigating the effect of different parameters, such as steam to gas mass flow rate ratio, fraction of turbine steam extraction, ambient temperature, inlet steam turbine temperature, compressor pressure ratio, and gas turbine (GT) combustion efficiency on the performance of the system has been made. In another aspect of the study, the relative advantage of using CCPP with absorption cooling over thermally equivalent mechanical vapor compression (MVC) cooling is also demonstrated.
