Abstract: This study presents, for the first time, a thermodynamic and environmental analysis of an ethane reliquefaction system integrated with the fuel gas supply system of the large ethane carrier. The model is based on data obtained during the vessel's sea trials, and its performance is evaluated using energy and exergy analysis methods. The system's exergy efficiency is 31.09 %, similar to typical values for marine energy systems. The fuel gas supply system is characterized by significant exergy destruction due to pressure drop in a long and complex piping system, and a substantial pressure difference (from 350 to 5 bar) required to deliver ethane to the engine. The main contribution to exergy destruction within the fuel gas supply system (FGSS) comes from the main pipelines and filters, accounting for 78.74 % of the total exergy destruction in this system. The ethane vaporizer demonstrates low exergy efficiency – 8.42 %. A significant portion of exergy destruction in the reliquefaction plant is associated with the compressors. The refrigerant economizer shows an exergy efficiency of 25.71 %, which, along with the compressors' low performance, indicates potential for parameter optimization to improve system performance. Environmental analysis showed a reduction in CO2 emissions by 25.1 % compared to marine diesel oil and 14.5 % compared to heavy fuel oil. Generally, the system demonstrates stable thermodynamic performance and meets design and operational requirements.
