Abstract:
•Two configurations of the discharging cycles have been compared (TES on top and Waste Heat on top), with the second one being more favourable.•Both configurations have been analysed also from a CAPEX point of view with higher CAPEX foreseen for the second configuration.•CAPEX of the proposed system is lower than a traditional TI-PTES due to lower impact ofTES cost.•A sensitivity analysis and then an optimization of the operating pressures of the systems have been performed.
