Abstract:
Carbon dioxide-enhanced oil recovery (CO2-EOR) and storage in geologic formations are considered a promising approach for achieving “net-zero” CO2 emission and mitigating further climate change. To ensure the long-term security of geologic CO2 storage (GCS), quantitative leakage risk assessment and management are required with reduced uncertainty. In this study, the Farnsworth Unit (FWU), an active demonstrative-scale CO2-EOR and storage site was selected as a case study to evaluate key factors for uncertainty reduction in quantitative risk assessment. Factors of characterization data and monitoring data were evaluated.
