Abstract:
The proton exchange membrane fuel cell combined heat and power cogeneration (PEMFC-CHP) system has been commercialized due to its advantages in clean production and high efficiency. Conventional PEMFC-CHP systems provide only low-temperature thermal output, which is insufficient to meet the high-temperature demands of industrial users. A 100 kW industrial-oriented PEMFC system coupled with a high-temperature heat pump for power and steam cogeneration is proposed. This system recycles PEMFC waste heat to generate steam via a steam heat pump. A dynamic modeling of the system is conducted using AMEsim software to investigate the dynamic response characteristics of the key parameters. Furthermore, a system regulation strategy incorporating lithium-ion battery energy storage is proposed, based on a finite state machine and PID control. The results indicate that the large volume of the flash tank leads to a relatively long system dynamic response time. The proposed control strategy can satisfy the regulation requirements for power and steam loads while maintaining relevant parameters at set values. The energy efficiency of the system is 89.70 % under tested conditions.
