Abstract:
This paper aims at assessing some environmental strategies implemented by the managers of potential polluting industries. Three inquiries were answered by 150 large, medium, and small enterprises, located all over Portugal, in 2001, 2003, and 2005. We conclude that companies are increasingly concerned with environmental issues, since the mean values are xm=3.9 in 2001, xm=4.4 in 2003, and xm=4.4 in 2005, for a scale varying from 1 to 5. The companies are investing increasingly in environmental processes since the mean values are xm=2.7 in 2001, xm=3.7 in 2003, and xm=3.8 in 2005. As far as the equipment is concerned, the mean values are xm=3.2 in 2001, xm=4.0 in 2003, and xm=4.3 in 2005.
