Abstract:
We estimate energy and monetary savings and penalties associated with the use of shading devices during the heating season. The results indicate that there is a net energy gain without shading devices for south-facing windows during the heating season. In order to minimize heating requirements, most of the shading devices should be removed during the heating season.
