Abstract:
Stage separation efficiencies and gains achieved by the effusional separation of helium-argon mixtures by thin filters having pores which go straight through the filters have been measured at Knudsen numbers of 25, 10, and 5. The experimental results are compared with the analytical treatment of Present and de Bethune for the purpose of providing information which will be useful in predicting constraints which are likely to be encountered in the high temperature effusional separation of the equilibrium components of water.
