The efficiency of electric powered machinery, especially fans

A. Beerbower

Energy, 1979, vol. 4, issue 3, 457-461

Abstract: A mathematical model for the efficiency of electric powered machinery, proposed by Murgatroyd and Wilkins, is compared with both handbook and field data for fans and is found to correlate the data reasonably well. This success substantiates their conclusion that a great deal of energy is wasted in such systems due to over-design and improper operating practices.
