Abstract:
The correlations between the hierarchic rank of OECD nations and their energy consumption per capita since 1973 have been established, in an extension of previous work for earlier years. It is shown that Zipf-Mandelbrot statistics are accurately obeyed for the two separate hierarchies of “developed” and “developing” countries. A criterion for determining the validity of such analyses is established.
