The application potential of hydro power

Abstract:
Water is the only renewable energy source that has been exploited by man on a large scale and that has a well-developed technological base to support its continued exploitation. At present about 23% of the world's electricity supply is from hydro plants. Since all the new energy sources under development are mainly exploitable through electricity generation, it seems likely that the world will have to move increasingly to an electricity-based energy regime.
