Direct energy conversion: An attractive option for developing countries

V.C. Sharma

Energy, 1980, vol. 5, issue 12, 1257-1259

Abstract: Solar energy will play a key role in direct energy conversion. The conversion efficiencies of a variety of silicon and GaAs solar cells are described. A cost comparison of silicon and GaAs hybrid solar systems shows current average costs of 4.4 ¢ and 6.75 ¢ per kWh in the U.S.A. and 11 ¢ per kWh in Nigeria.
