A low-cost, energy-saving window system

Abstract:
A low cost, highly insulated window system, which can be fabricated with easily available materials, is described. The system can be installed by adding an i.r. transmitting sheet and a reflecting layer to an existing window. The reflecting layer may be in the form of a shade, Venetian blinds, or a curtain. The thermal resistance (R) values of several variations of the system are computed and tests are described which verify that the system works as predicted by theory.
