M. Hastings and M.E. Cawley

Energy, 1981, vol. 6, issue 5, 447-455

Abstract: The primary focus of this research effort was to identify and measure the socioeconomic impacts of power plant development on non-metropolitan host communities. A mail survey, distributed to community leaders in 100 power plant communities east of the Mississippi River, was utilized to gather information from 713 respondents. Community leaders were questioned as to the plant's impact on (a) community groups, (b) aspects of community life, (c) overall community acceptance, and (d) attitudes toward power plant development.
