Optimum tilt angles of a solar collector

S.H. Moon, K.E. Felton and A.T. Johnson

Energy, 1981, vol. 6, issue 9, 895-899

Abstract: Optimum tilt angles for solar collectors at 171 locations in North America were determined. As a matter of user convenience, equations predicting optimum collector tilt angle were derived by using regression analysis based on the results obtained for the 171 locations for several different periods of the year. These equations adequately predict the optimum tilt angles as indicated by the R2 values of 0.814 to 0.920.
