Abstract: This article by Eric Flamholtz provides a framework for understanding the nature, role, functioning, design, and effects of organizational control systems. It represents a model of control which can be used to make this process more visible in organizations. It illustrates the practical applications of the model, and suggests its implications for corporate and human resource management as well as for scholars.
