David Tranfield
European Management Journal, 2002, vol. 20, issue 4, 409-413
Abstract:
This paper summarises the research reported in this special edition using the five categories postulated to characterise mode 2 research. From the papers analysed it identifies five challenges facing mode 2 management research in action. Finally, the paper uses speculative work by van Aken [van Aken, J. E. (2001a,b,c), to offer a vision of management research as a design science, serving academic need for rigour and research quality and practitioner requirements for relevance and applicability of findings.
