European Management Journal, 1985, vol. 3, issue 1, 11-17
Abstract:
Industrial restructuring, revised views of employment, technological uncertainty and investment fears are recurring themes of European management debate. In this paper, Isamu Yamashita, Director and Chairman of Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding, describes the Japanese situation in terms familiar to European eyes, and suggests some of the directions of response which he believes Japan is making in preparing itself for the 21st Century. The text of this paper was originally delivered as the Robbins Lecture at the University of Stirling.
