Entrepreneurs: A balanced view of their rôle in innovation and growth

European Management Journal, 1987, vol. 5, issue 4, 257-267
Abstract:
Although entrepreneurs can have an invigorating rôle in business, there are negative sides. They may be acting more in self-interest, and the business may outgrow them. The authors demonstrate a healthy organisational growth from entrepreneurial beginnings, and introduce the concept of Entrepreneurial Aides. Entrepreneurship is cyclical and should be self-renewing. An appropriate "career plan" for a successful entrepreneur is profiled.
