Europe post 1992: A view from the antipodes

Victor Perton and Howard Scott

European Management Journal, 1989, vol. 7, issue 4, 504-509

Abstract: A fundamental change is sweeping through the structure of European industry and trade as a result of the proposed European Single Economic Market (SEM). These moves will have an important impact on all countries which have substantial links with the European Community (EC). It is therefore essential for Australia to assess the likely impact of moves to create the SEM by 31 December 1992. This paper provides an analysis of the possible consequences for Australia of the proposed unification of the European Market. Victor Perton and Howard Scott outline the strategies proposed for market liberalisation and briefly address issues associated with their implementation.
