Diversification: A redundant strategic option
Godfrey Devlin
European Management Journal, 1991, vol. 9, issue 1, 76-81
Abstract:
Should your company diversify? In this article Godfrey Devlin points first to the confusion and conflicting evidence that appears to surround the diversification option. He then provides some clearcut guidelines to companies considering such a move. These include developing a strategy and detailed implementation plan and an effective management and control of diversified companies after the event. Diversification can be a useful part of the corporate strategic portfolio, but a hard-headed approach is essential.
