Total quality management in a redundancy situation
Steve Bull
European Management Journal, 1991, vol. 9, issue 3, 288-294
Abstract:
Steve Bull has recently been involved in a turnround process involving Interox Chemicals, where he is General Manager. He adopted Total Quality Management as the key to change, although the management and staff knew the programme had considerable redundancy implications. But he believed TQM could lead to beneficial cultural and attitude changes. With the process well under way, the author is very optimistic about the outcome, and in this article makes several suggestions for helping the TQM programme to be effective in turning a company round.
