Acquiring tacit and explicit marketing knowledge from foreign partners in IJVs

Le Nguyen Hau and Felicitas Evangelista

Journal of Business Research, 2007, vol. 60, issue 11, 1152-1165

Abstract: The focus of this paper is on the acquisition of tacit and explicit marketing knowledge from foreign partners in international joint ventures. Based on a literature review, a number of antecedents are identified and a model is tested using data obtained from 219 IJVs in Vietnam. Factors related to both knowledge seekers and knowledge holders, and the cultural distances between them are found to have a significant impact on the acquisition of marketing knowledge from foreign partners.
