Seeing further: Honoring John Urry's contributions to tourism and hospitality research

Abstract:
This paper considers ways John Urry's contributions influence scholarship in tourism and hospitality research. This paper includes a limited analysis of abstracts, a review of certain of Urry's publications relating to the author's research and implications of Urry's research for the author's research. This article also provides particular perspectives on why John Urry has made very important contributions to tourism and hospitality research. This study finds that Urry has introduced ideas that are important to innovative formulation and execution of tourism and hospitality research. Specifically, the paper addresses “Gaze 3.0” and complexity ideas impacting theory development and research on personal and management consumption/production decisions regarding tourism and hospitality.
