Abstract: •Crime incidents perpetrated by multiple offenders tend to be more violent.•The influence of accomplices on violence is susceptible to situational pressures.•The relationship is weaker in crimes with a financial motivation.•The relationship is stronger in crimes with less perceived risk to the offender.
