Targeted violence in correctional facilities: The complex motivations of prisoners who kill child sex abusers

Abstract:
Researchers have usually relied on importation and deprivation theories to explain prison violence, but some scholars suggest that a broad array of criminological theories may be needed to explain the complex motivations of prisoners who commit violent acts. The current study seeks out prisoners who murdered child sex abusers inside correctional facilities to ask them directly what their motivations were.
