Attachment to parents and adolescents' marijuana use, attitudes, and perceptions: Assessing the role of county-level dispensaries

Kelsi Moscrop-Blake, Wanda E. Leal and Peter S. Lehmann

Journal of Criminal Justice, 2024, vol. 93, issue C

Abstract: As many states have passed laws increasing the availability of legal marijuana, a growing body of research has explored the consequences of these trends on youths' marijuana-related perceptions and behaviors. However, prior work has been mixed on the effects of county-level variation in marijuana accessibility stemming from ordinances governing dispensary operations, and previous studies have not investigated whether the robust protective effects of attachment to parents on adolescent outcomes are moderated by these contextual factors.
